BDI/BDA The German Business Representation

BDI/BDA The German Business Representation

Since 1958, the year the European Economic Community was founded, the BDI has been represented in Brussels and has now been following European events on the spot for more than 50 years. In view of European legislation's growing signfiicance for German industry and the increasing complexity of the decision process, the importance of the BDI's both constant and strong presence in the immediate proximity of the main EU institutions has been proved. To represent the pooled German business interests, the BDI and the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA) joined together in February 2007 under the name of "BDI/BDA The German Business Representation." Both associations are members of the European umbrella association BusinessEurope. In Brussels it is particularly important to make use of synergies. Twelve member associations and one BDI regional office, eight further associations and companies, as well as five research organisations, are working alongside the BDI and the BDA in the Rue du Commerce 31 under one roof. The BDI office "community" which has developed over the years benefits intensive communication with member associations and has the advantage that logistic infrastructures can be used jointly, thus making optimal use of them.
