Presidential Board

The Presidential Board is made up of the President, his predecessor, the President-elect, the Treasurer, as well as 7 other representatives and 15 further members of the board who have been elected members.

Other members include the Chairman of the BDI Committee on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, the Chairman of the Förderkreis der Deutschen Industrie e.V. (association for industrial promotion) and the President of the Institute of German Private Enterprise, Cologne (Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln).

The Presidential Board can also bring along up to 25 prominent members of industry, as well as a member recommended by the Presidential Board of the Federation of German Employers (BDA) and a member of their Presidential Board. The Presidential Board can also elect, on the recommendation of the President, a new Director General. 

Currently, there are 55 members of the Presidential Board. Frequent guests of the presidential board include the President and Director General of the Federation of German Employers (BDA), the President of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Director of the Institute of German Private Enterprise. The Presidential Board directs all work and content produced by the BDI.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Peter Keitel was elected BDI President at the BDI General Meeting on 24. November 2008. He entered office on 1 January 2009 for a period of two years.
