Real estate provides space for life. The real estate industry is one of the most important sectors of the German economy right after the manufacturing industry as far as the gross domestic product is concerned as well as the number of employees. About 290 billion added value annually and 3.8 Mio. jobs are created and/or maintained. Almost 9 billion € of all private or company-owned assets are property based, a vast part of the total national wealth.
The planning, financing, construction and management of real estate do not only meet the demands of every human being for high-quality residences and offices; nowadays buildings are also high-tech products and drivers of innovation. Like no other good they influence our environment and our urban life. A strong and consistent political representation is essential for the well-being of the real estate industry. The purpose of the German Property Federation (GPF) is, to provide a political representation that matches the weight the real estate sector has for Germany’s national economy. As federation of entrepreneurs the GPF raises its voice for its members who belong to the best reputed in the sector – on national and international levels as well as in the BDI Federation of German Industries.
