The AKI supports higher economic and socio-political interests of the fine ceramic industry and its professional associations. The fine ceramic industry is represented in many market sectors: consumer goods industry (chinaware), in the field of construction oriented products (tiles, sanitary ceramic industry) and it is a supplier for many sectors of industry (engineering ceramics, abrasive materials). All manufacturers have in common a long tradition and significant structural changes due to progressing international competition and high contributions regarding labour and energy costs.

Therefore, AKI’s topics of overriding importance are first of all issues concerning the supply and taxation of energy, environmentally relevant issues, issues about how to uphold competitiveness in an international environment, and issues about how to design the socio-political general set-up of the industrial sector. Natural raw materials are the source materials of ceramics. These create the preconditions for a sustainable and environment-conscious economic management that preserves natural resources.

A network of associations and institutions on close terms guarantees the forming of a broad and uniform opinion and is the precondition for a clear positioning within the European ceramic associations in Brussels.
